Montana and the Debate over Sustained Yield

Resource development almost always requires difficult encounters--flat out conflict--among peoples and cultures who value those resources in different ways:  for recreation, beauty, self-sustaining livelihoods, corporate growth.  The longer Montanans explored and used the land's seemingly endless forests, the more we have learned that we don't all agree on the role that timber should play in our lives.
